Encourage the adoption of reusable alternatives and facilitate reuse practices in communities.

Local Government Assistance

Develop and provide local governments with templates for effective waste management ordinances, contracts, and policies.

Grant Writing & Management

Assist in identifying, applying for, and managing grants to support plastic pollution reduction projects.

Water Quality and Watershed Resilience

Advance nature-based solutions that improve water quality, safeguard ecosystems, and support resilient communities.

Mississippi River Plastic Pollution Initiative

Engaged 150 partners, collected 130,000 data points, implemented across 10 cities.

Through a community-driven monitoring network, MACFA and its partners collected over 130,000 data points to identify pollution sources, material types, and intervention opportunities. Implemented across 10 Mississippi River cities, the project demonstrated a scalable model that combines data, community engagement, and practical solutions to inform policy, guide infrastructure investments, and accelerate measurable pollution reduction outcomes.
